From the perspective of a Neyvelian

The day this threat of Corona Virus started looming over this part of the country, our NLC India swung into action.
Not only did the top management endorse the PM’s call for a one day lockdown, it also began planning for a slew of precautionary measures to be put into action both at the workplaces and residential areas of Neyveli Township. From the midnight of 25th March, 2020, lockdown was put in place. At the same time, it was seen to it that essential services were maintained and people were not put to difficulty.
At the Hospital, arrangements were made to screen persons with any kind of symptoms for COVID-19. People with history of recent overseas travel were identified and home quarantined. Teams were formed to check on the health of these home quarantined persons on a day-to-day basis.
It was ensured that essential products like Milk, Vegetables, Groceries and Medicines were available to all. Shops were regulated accordingly and even at the shops, it was ensured that the people followed social distancing.
Employees and staff who were on duty were scanned with Thermal Scanners. Sanitizers and soaps were kept available for the use of employees and workers at industrial units and service units.
All these required a focussed discussion with all Department Heads, formation of task forces and practical, implementable action plans, intense monitoring and speedy follow-up actions.
It was really admirable that our company could effortlessly wade into social media with its own brand of awareness campaigns, authentic information and timely instructions in the form of SMSes, Whatsapp, Facebook and Twitter posts. They were very useful for all employees and their family members at home, especially as venturing out was prohibited.
We should not lose sight of the fact that while all these measures look easy on paper, there must have been tremendous behind the scene efforts which have made all these possible. The top management and Senior Officials of NLC India Limited must have toiled day and night to Discuss, Plan and Implement all these measures.
We the employees and family members must really pause for a moment to appreciate the top management of NLC India Limited and Senior Officials for their tireless efforts to ensure all these were made possible in our Township, all for our wellbeing and welfare. It’s really an awesome effort.
