Students Life

True Education:

“Education is the kindling of a flame, not the filling of a vessel.”

The biggest gift that can be given to a child is education, true education. Education in its pristine form. Teaching a child merely how to write and read is not education. Education means the ability to think, ponder over and take the right decision. Education means growing up as a right thinking person, without taking extreme sides of issues. It is a balance to be struck between conflicting views, a balanced view which will take all factors into consideration before a decision is made.

“Man in born raw. Education refines him.”

Education Today
Today, real Education has withered away in the face of crass commercialization and is viewed solely from the perspective of employment opportunities. The quality is simply missing and everyone rues the vanishing values, principles and morals associated with education. The net result is that technical knowledge is passed off as the essence of education and educated persons do not possess the ability to think and analyse.

Education revolves around Technical and Medical courses and colleges.

Successful careers today revolve around the following Subjects:

Medicine

Engineering

Management & Accounting

Law

Social Sciences

Humanities (Languages)

So, Get Started:

Your Talent/skill in a subject should be identified by the end of 10th standard. Because, only then you can choose the area/branch of studies that you are interested in. Making such a clear choice will enable you to choose the relevant group that you can take up in your Higher Secondary Course. This in turn, will lay a foundation for your tertiary education at college.

Nowadays, Engineering and Medicine are in great demand. However, do not worry if you are not interested in either. There is life beyond these two courses.

Now, how to select the right Career for you? Parents and teachers who know you may guide you in choosing the right career.

Deciding what to do after Class 10 is a crucial decision and should never be taken in haste. To simplify this process, you can follow a few simple guidelines that are mentioned below:

1. Consider your Interests & Passion

You must follow your interests and passions. And the first step in this process is identifying which subject, topic or career option interests you. You can do something for a lifetime and still be happy and satisfied with it, only if you truly enjoy it. Therefore, irrespective of which stream you pick, make sure that you find the subjects covered under it are interesting to you. And never be worried if the subject is not Maths or Biology.

2. Examine your Strengths & Weaknesses

After fixing your interests, the next step is to assess your skills and abilities. If you choose a stream merely on the basis of your interest but do not have the right skills and abilities to deal with the subjects that it covers, it will pose a big problem in future. For example, you might be interested in elementary science but the science subjects that are taught at Class 12 level are much detailed and difficult. Or if you are good with basic arithmetic and opt for Engineering group in Class 12 where Mathematics is of a much-advanced level, you will not be able to cope with it. Therefore, you must do a thorough analysis of your skills and abilities, determine your strengths and weaknesses and pick a stream that is in accordance with your strengths.

3. Identify the Right Career Choice

Once you start identifying the things that you are interested in or passionate about, you will realize that the list of long and varied. Not everything that you like or are interested in can be transformed into a great main-stream career choice. Therefore, you need to identify which of your interest areas can offer you good opportunities, in which you can build a lasting career. You can take help of professional career counsellors who can help you analyse your skills and help you choose the right career option.

4. Seek Help from Others

If even after the first three steps, if you still feel you are confused and undecided about the stream you should opt for after Class 10; consider getting the right exposure from your parents or teacher.
